Some of you have been aware of the new version of the SimplePress – a beautiful Thesis theme skin for magazine sites that I have several times mentioned. This skin has been my prize for eblogtip’s contest and several winners have had opportunities to experience this new version 1.1.

SimplePress v.1.1 has new face and more features added. The new version also removed some old features that could cause slow loading time for your blog. Further, the upgraded version is completely compatible with Thesis 1.7. You can not use v.1.1 on Thesis 1.6 or older versions.

Here are some great features that SimplePress has added to this new version for your information:

  • SimplePress is fully compatible with the latest Thesis version 1.7 (very important)
  • Integrated skin manager for SimplePress that you can see the image attached or the article about this manager on this link: http://thesisthemes.com/2010/04/27/thesis-skin-manager/
  • Integrate the Sexy Slider in the SimplePress to replace Cu3er, that looks really SEXY, you will definitely love sexy feature right? :-)
  • Add Feedburner, Twitter, Facebook on the header space where your header banner is not set. God way to increase your feedburner subscriber, Twitter and Facebook followers & friends.
  • There is no dark layout for this version, only bright.
  • The layout is much improved with CSS3 integrated, you can experience the Simplepress DEMO version
  • More work on graphic…

There are many things that you can self-explore from this new version and one post can not say it all. I am now in love with this v.1.1 and thinking about changing eblogtip to SimplePress with some special customization. Not sure when and what to customize but you will definitely know once it is out.

The Internet is Reaching 200 Million Domain Names Milestone

Internet is getting bigger and bigger when the numbers of domains registered is increasing everyday. There have been some millions TLD domains which have been registered nowadays and many other country code domains registered but not recorded gloabally too.

Many of us have been curious about how many TLDs domains have been sold out and how many of those registered are actually active and running. No one knows what exactly the quantity of active domains are but we can know the number of registered TLDs domain names through different registrars databases.

Pingdom has just released a new statistic data about domain name registration. There have been nearly 200 millions domains registered so far and most of them are TLDs or country code TLDs. A slight decrease in Q1, 2010 could be consequences from the new Chinese strict rules on .cn domain registration:

Domain Names

I have owned so far about 50 TLDs domain names. I took advantage of promotional codes and registered so many domains. That could be a big mistake of mine and I promised not to register any new domains from now.

To my experiences, this chart could be down from July 2010 when VeriSign increase its domain price for .COM and .NET. These two TLDs are among the most popular domain names now.

What do you think about this? The domain price will be up from July 1, 2010 and you should buy yours now to enjoy the best price for just $6.89 with GoDaddy.

How to Create A Blog

Creating a blog is a great way to say what’s on your mind, get noticed, and make new friends. You’ve probably heard the word before, but what is a blog and how do you create one?

Blog is an abbreviation for binary log, based on the hand-written log kept by a ship’s captain. A blog is the place where you’ll write and display your thoughts for the blogging world to read. That world is called the blogosphere.

The blogosphere is the interconnected network of blogging sites found on the Internet. These sites are hosted at two locations, primarily—Blogger or WordPress. Both sites are similar but have features that differentiate them slightly. Basic blogs on both sites are free, unless you want extra features. Blogger has the advantage of free slide shows, videos, plus Java script capabilities for their users. WordPress is totally open-source and template-driven. Templates are customizable for a fee, as are other upgrades like videos and slide shows.

To establish a blog at Blogger, go to www.blogger.com and set up an account. You’ll need a name for your blog. Try to think of one before you register, so you have a good name. It’s likely your first choice is already taken, so have a short list of names for your blog, just in case. After naming your blog, pick your design template. There are many colorful, attractive templates for you to choose from so you get the right feeling for your blog. You can always change the design later. Don’t get too hung up on it right now.

Once you’ve selected a template, enter your profile information. When you’re finished with that, click the link to add a post. A dialog box will open. That is where you input your words. You can use HTML formatting or just compose normally. The system will add the HTML later. When you’re finished writing, you need to edit, proofread, and publish your post. That’s all there is to it.

Add a few good labels that describe your entry so folks can find and visit your blog. When they do, they might comment on your posts. Post regularly so your new friends keep returning. See who else is blogging and add a few favorites. The more interaction and activity you have on your blog, the more popular it will become. Soon you’ll be the most popular blogger in the entire blogosphere–or maybe the most controversial. That’s up to you.
