The Internet is Reaching 200 Million Domain Names Milestone

Internet is getting bigger and bigger when the numbers of domains registered is increasing everyday. There have been some millions TLD domains which have been registered nowadays and many other country code domains registered but not recorded gloabally too.

Many of us have been curious about how many TLDs domains have been sold out and how many of those registered are actually active and running. No one knows what exactly the quantity of active domains are but we can know the number of registered TLDs domain names through different registrars databases.

Pingdom has just released a new statistic data about domain name registration. There have been nearly 200 millions domains registered so far and most of them are TLDs or country code TLDs. A slight decrease in Q1, 2010 could be consequences from the new Chinese strict rules on .cn domain registration:

Domain Names

I have owned so far about 50 TLDs domain names. I took advantage of promotional codes and registered so many domains. That could be a big mistake of mine and I promised not to register any new domains from now.

To my experiences, this chart could be down from July 2010 when VeriSign increase its domain price for .COM and .NET. These two TLDs are among the most popular domain names now.

What do you think about this? The domain price will be up from July 1, 2010 and you should buy yours now to enjoy the best price for just $6.89 with GoDaddy.
